The civil surgeon's office has set up a stall to make people aware about eye donation and other health-related topics. They distributed pamphlets among people and displayed charts to create awareness about various topics such as cancer, eye donation and dengue on the second day of the fest on the PAU campus on Monday.
Health department official at the stall said, "A form has been attached with the pamphlet for eye donation. People who are interested can fill the form and submit it at the nearest eye bank."
Charts creating awareness on cancer, which said, 'Early diagnosis, save the lives and early cancer can be cured'was displayed.
A chart depicting dengue, its symptoms and prevention was displayed, which says-'Dengue is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. The symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that are similar to measles. In a small proportion of cases the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever."
Meanwhile, officials of the civil surgeon's office also created awareness on various social issues such as 'Save girl child', 'Stop female feoticide' and 'Drug de-addiction'.
A visitor Gagandeep Singh said, "There is a need to create more awareness among people to save girl child as people are still indulging in killing the girl child and preferring male child. The health department should conduct more camps and sessions for creating awareness among people."
