Surprise check finds five teachers absent, four late for work

During surprise visits to three government schools of the district on Friday, Charanjit Singh, deputy district education officer (secondary) and officiating DEO secondary, found five teachers absent and four unpunctual.

During surprise visits to three government schools of the district on Friday, Charanjit Singh, deputy district education officer (secondary) and officiating DEO secondary, found five teachers absent and four unpunctual.

The DEO visited Government Primary School, Billar Wali Chhapra, Khanna; Government Middle School, Billar Wali Chhapra, Khanna; and Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GGSSS), Sahnewal.

While at Government Primary School, Billar Wali Chhapra, Khanna, two teachers were found absent, at Government Middle School, Billar Wali Chhapra, three teachers were found missing. Besides, four reached the school late.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Charanjit Singh, said, “During a surprise visit to three government schools, five teachers were found absent and four reached late to their schools. All teachers were present at GGSSS, Sahnewal. A report will be sent to the higher authorities for necessary action, and such inspections will be held in future as well, so that improvement can be brought about in the working of government schools.”

“I also got a complaint that at Government High School, Bulepur, Khanna, the teachers have not received salaries for the past two months. Therefore, I have issued a notice to the principal of GGSSS, Bulepur, Khanna, to give clarification, as she has the drawing disbursing officer powers of the high school.”
