After a gang of thieves decamped with Rs 93,500 and other valuables from four shops in Manimajra market on Saturday night, the UT police have started looking into the record of history-sheeters.
The thefts were committed in four adjoining situated in series and the accused might be familiar with area, said the police, adding no close circuit television camera footage could be procured so far, as most of the shopkeepers had kept their CCTVs closed.
The thieves targeted four shops, including two shoe shops, and managed to steal cash and other valuables.
It has been learnt that locks of a few other shops were also broken, but nothing was stolen from them.
One of the complainants, Om Prakash, shop number 149 owner, stated Rs 52, 000 and several pairs of shoes were stolen from his showroom. Another shoe shop owner Gulshan Kumar reported Rs 35,000 and some other valuable items were stolen from his shop.
Ashok Kumar, who owns shop number 152, stated the thieves decamped with Rs 5,000 from his shop, while Krishan Kumar, owner of shop number 150-151, reported Rs 1,500 and some other items were stolen from his shop.

{{/usCountry}}The theft was reported in the morning when shop owners found the locks of their shops broken; and some shops ransacked.
A local police team along with Central Forensic Science Laboratory officials visited the spot. The police suspect it could be handiwork of a local gang.
Meanwhile, a case under section 380 (theft in the dwelling house, etc) and 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Mani Majra police station.
