In a bid to encourage donation of land, chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Saturday said the government will honour persons who offer their land for developmental works and also engrave their names on the inauguration plaques of the projects built on it.
The chief minister was addressing a public meeting at Melthi (Katlah) in Rohru Tehsil of Shimla district on Saturday after
Inaugurating the newly-constructed primary health centre, built at a cost of `91 lakh.
Bhagat Ram, a local resident, who donated three bighas and seventeen biswas of land for construction of the health centre, was also honoured.
Virbhadra also announced that the road leading to the hospital will be metalled and residential accommodation for doctors built.

While speaking at Shallan, the chief minister called for renovation of the temples according to the traditional architecture, saying some temples were being built in violation of norms and without keeping the region's architecture in mind.
The chief minister also announced a community health centre at Shallan and directed the HRTC authorities to start bus service to the area.
He further said besides an AIIMS in Bilaspur, three medical colleges were being opened in the state at a cost of `189 crore each at Nahan, Chamba and Hamirpur. An Indian Institute of Management is also coming up at Dhaula Kuan, the chief minister added.
"I don't make false claims as far as development issues are concerned but I mean what I say," Virbhadra said, adding that he hoped to see all the villages connected by roads in near future.

Chief parliamentary secretary Rohit Thakur credited the development of the area to successive Congress governments - right from the time of first chief minister Dr YS Parmar and Thakur Ram Lal.
Earlier, the chief minister performed Bhoomi Pujan of Shulidhar-Shallan road, to be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) at a cost Rs 1.19 crore and that of the upgradation of Mandharli-Karchari via Shallan road and Kupri-Melthi-Sheelghat road under NABARD at a cost of Rs 5.55 crore.
