Three Punjab roadways Volvos to be auctioned for not paying arrears

The three buses will now be auctioned on August 12.

The court of civil judge Jagmeet Singh released the sale orders of the said buses after the state transport department, Punjab, failed to release the increments of a conductor — the complainant in the case — even as the warrants of attachment of these buses was released by the court on April 8.

The UT Industrial Tribunal and Labour Court, in its order dated October 12, 2015, had directed the management of Punjab Roadways to release increment to conductor Hamesh Pal.

The payment had been stopped following two departmental orders of August 17, 1994 and February 25, 2002.

After the labour court’s orders were not complied with, an execution of the order was submitted in the local district court in February 26, this year, following which the court issued warrants of attachment of buses in April 2016.

“The department did not bother to abide by the court orders and thus its three Volvo buses worth crores will be auctioned now. Pal will get his due, with the pending amount going to the department. This is the order, “said advocate Gupta.
