To curb the differences prevailing in the machine tools manufacturing industry people, the members of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed for the implementation of Cluster Development Programme (CDP) in the industry will be electing new office bearers of the governing council.
A meeting of representatives of two factions of the industry was held at the office of director Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) -development institute SS Dhillon on Tuesday in which it was decided that 22 members of the SPV will elect the new governing council including the president, secretary, finance secretary and four other members on Wednesday morning.
The meeting was held in presence of a three-member committee formed by the industry to resolve the issues between the industries.
The committee includes SS Dhillon, Badish Jindal president of Federation of Association of Small Industries of India and vice-president Ludhiana foundry and small industries association Yash Pal Gosain.
The incumbent president of SPV, Devinder Singh and members of faction demanding re-elections were present in the meeting.
Differences were prevailing among the members of the SPV for the past sometime over the issue of electing members of governing council. The faction led by Kulwant Singh has been blaming that proper procedure was not followed for electing the members of governing council in November 2012 when the tenure of governing council came to an end.

{{/usCountry}}This was affecting the implementation of CDP as there was no progress in the soft intervention among the cluster members. Following this a bank account of SPV carrying an amount of Rs 8.50 lakh was also sealed by the banks following complaints by two groups against each other.
This has raised the hope of going ahead in direction of implementing the CDP thereby benefiting the industry a lot.
Kulwant Singh when contacted said that there will be no need of elections and the members will appoint the new governing council unanimously.
It is important to mention that both office of MSME development institute and District Industries Centre (DIC) are struggling to resolve the issues between two groups. DIC even organised a lecture by a business management expert from Punjab Agricultural University recently to curb the differences.
