To educate farmers, PAU to organise seven ‘kisan fairs’

To educate farmers about the latest farming techniques and address problems associated with agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will hold a series of seven “kisan melas” and “kisan divas” in different parts of the state in September.

To educate farmers about the latest farming techniques and address problems associated with agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will hold a series of seven “kisan melas” and “kisan divas” in different parts of the state in September.

“Far mers from different areas of Punjab as well other states are expected to attend the fairs,” stated sources at the Centre for Communication and International Linkages (CCIL) and the department of extension education.

Unfolding details, HS Dhaliwal, director, extension education, said the 16-day series will commence on September 8 and will culminate on September 26.” He added, “Farmers and farmwomen will be able to visit exhibitions, stalls.

They will be given an opportunity to discuss issues related to farming with PAU experts.” “Apart from showcasing the latest agricultural technologies, farmers will be educated about new farm innovations and scientific knowhow of progressive farming,” he added. “They will get an exposure to an exclusive agricultural market, where they can purchase the latest equipment and farm machineries, seeds, various varieties of plants, and can get hands on experience on the latest research work done by PAU scientists,” maintained Dhaliwal.
