Three-time sitting MLA from Abohar, he is the Leader of the Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha. Banking on family legacy and his own stature to win the LS contest. He had lost the 1996 LS poll from Ferozepur, his debut, but has since transformed his image.

First became MLA in 1997, and then won again in 2007. Vacated Jalalabad for SAD chief Sukhbir Badal after winning 2009 LS poll. Remains a caste-based leader from Rai Sikh community, who is again banking on a larger wave, this time that of Narendra Modi, to take him through.

A lawyer at Ferozepur, he lost as an Independent from Guru Har Sahai assembly segment in 2012 after getting no traction. A surprise pick from the rookie party, he will bank on the Kamboj vote and the AAP’s national image to make a dent.
