To ensure easy flow of traffic in the city, police commissionerate Ludhiana traffic wing wrote to municipal corporation (MC) commissioner raising parking issues and suggesting points to keep tab on traffic here on Tuesday.
Assistant commissioner of police (ACP), traffic wing, wrote about the parking problem on Satpal Mittal (Malhar) Road and Ghumar Mandi. "Welcome Palace has no arrangement for parking causing traffic snarls whenever an exhibition is organised there," they further pointed, urging MC to make arrangements of parking and inform the traffic wing before giving permission to hold exhibitions.
Similarly, there is no parking space outside another commercial building, Pearl Palace, in Ghumar Mandi, leading to haphazard parking on the road resulting in traffic chaos.
Traffic police officials also suggested installation of traffic signals on cross roads on Ferozepur Road between Sunet Canal Bridge to octroi post and on Pakhowal Road near Hotel Keys and B-7 Resort.
The letter further suggested closing down cuts on the road stretch from Lodhi Club to J-block and recommended closing down three cuts on Barewal Road near Gurdev Hospital here.
Traffic inspector Vinod Kumar said, "The traffic wing conducted a survey of the city and held meetings with locals inviting their ideas. We have identified 15 points that can be helpful to ease the flow of traffic in the city."
