Thandal said that Dr Ambedkar was a messiah who tried to bring equality and social justice to the marginalised communities. He said it was due to the efforts of Dr Ambedkar that Dalits obtained a right to vote and became a partner in building of the nation. A real tribute to him would be to continue with his efforts of empowering the Scheduled Castes and help them overcome the vicious cycle of caste and cultural barrier, he added.

He added that the state government would construct one lakh dwellings for the poor amd that the backlog under the Shagun scheme would be cleared soon. Former MP Varinder Singh Bajwa, former minister Tikshan Sud, MLA Surinder Singh Bhulewal Rathan also paid their tributes to Dr Ambedkar.
