A truck driver allegedly raped his 28-year-old tenant after locking her seven-year-old daughter in another room in his house at Karamsar Colony of Basti Jodhewal on Monday. The accused has been identified as Sonu Sood (32).
Taking swift action, the Basti Jodhewal police arrested Sood after registering a case against him. According to the victim, she had been living separately from her husband, as their relations were strained. She said while one of their children lived with her, the other two were with her husband.
The victim alleged that since she had separated from her husband, the accused had an eye on her.
She claimed on Monday, while she and her daughter were home, the accused called her to his room on the pretext of collecting the monthly rent. As she entered his room, the accused pounced over her, after locking her seven-year-old daughter in another room.
She alleged that the accused then raped her and threatened her to maintain silence over the issue.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhwinder Singh of Basti Jodhewal police station said the police arrested the accused immediately after registering an FIR.
