Two arrested with habit-forming drugs

The police have arrested two youths in two different areas of the city on Saturday and recovered a huge cache of habit-forming drugs from their possession.

The police have arrested two youths in two different areas of the city on Saturday and recovered a huge cache of habit-forming drugs from their possession.

The police have also registered two separate cases against them. The accused have been identified as Manjit Singh alias Boni of Rajgarh, Macchhiwara and Gurprit Singh alias Kala of Miyan Mohalla, Machhiwara.

According to SHO Bant Singh of Koomkalan police station, "The police had put up a naka near the Sidhpur bus stand on Saturday evening. A youth alighted from the bus and started running. The police intercepted him and on frisking the police recovered 50 bottles of syrup, around 5,000 pills and 140 capsules from his possession."

He has been identified as Manjit Singh alias Boni. In another case ASI Jagga Singh had put up a naka along with a police party at Partap Garh bus stand. Following a tip off the police stopped a youth, Gurprit Singh alias Kala and recovered 60 bottles of syrup, 4,000 pills and 100 capsules.

According to the SHO, the drugs recovered from the alleged accused fall under schedule-H drugs. The accused used to sell the drugs among youth.
