The police registered two cases of abduction of minor girls on the pretext of marriage on Monday.

Basti Jodhewal police station registered a case against Pushav Sharma, a resident of Sector 38, Chandigarh Road, following the statement of Surinder Singh of Puneet Nagar area.

Surinder Singh alleged that his 15-year-old daughter has gone to grocery store near their house on February 1, and never came back. Later, he came to know that the accused had kidnapped her on the pretext of marriage.

In another such case, the Jamalpur police station registered a case of abduction on the pretext of marriage against an unidentified accused following the statement of victim’s father Surjit Singh, a resident of Beant Colony.

Surjit Singh said his 14-year-old daughter gone to nearby shop to buy something, but never returned. He suspected that someone had kidnapped her daughter on the pretext of marriage.
