Two FCI constables arrested for blackmailing and extortion

Patiala vigilance team has arrested two constables of Food Corporation of India (FCI) for blackmailing and extortion.The accused were later identified as Sukhdev Singh resident of village Miyanpur and Nirmal Singh of village Naulakha. They had been deployed at FCI godowns Sirhind and Patiala respectively.

On the complaint of Amritpal Singh, a resident of Patiala, the local vigilance team registered a case against accused and has started further investigation.

Giving further information, vigilance inspector from Patiala, Randhir Singh said, "The complainer has stated that he was going from Patiala to Sirhind and offered lift to an old lady. While he was going to drop that lady, two bikers asked him to stop and introduced themselves as ASI and constable and then without saying a word more, they started slapping Amritpal and the lady."

"After that they said, we have clicked your offensive pictures with this lady and we will post them on internet and asked money from me when I urged them not to do that. Later they took Rs 3000 from me and also took my identity card. On the next day, they called me and asked me to give them Rs 50000 to get the pictures deleted. However, they lowered it to Rs 20000 after I pleaded. When they called me to a local hotel to give them money, the vigilance team raided and arrested them," Amritpal Singh told the officials.

Inspector Singh said that only after thorough investigation would it be clear whether the lady was also involved in the crime or not and how many people had fallen prey to this con.
