ADGP (Crime) HPS Khakh said the police got a tip-off that some smugglers were on way to Jalandhar from Ludhiana in a Skoda car to deliver heroin to their contacts in Jalandhar.

Teams of Jalandhar Commissionerate and CIA staff under the supervision of ACP crime RS Cheema laid a naka at Patel Chowk and stopped the suspected car for checking.
During a search, two kg of heroin and a country-made pistol with two cartridges were allegedly seized from the possession of Satnam Singh, one of the car occupants.

Police also nabbed car driver Jaspreet Singh while their third accomplice Pargat Singh gave a slip to the police, the ADGP said.

He said that Satnam Singh, an agriculturist, joined hands with Pargat Singh, alleged to be a notorious smuggler of drugs who indulged in the supply of drugs and heroin in Doaba and Malwa regions of the state for the past many years to become rich overnight.
