Police claimed to have arrested two people for allegedly hatching a robbery plan near Athwal drain and seized two revolvers, six live cartridges and sharp-edged weapons from their possession.
Giving information, Batala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Inderbir Singh said following a tip-off that some youths were planning a robbery near Athwal drain, a police team led by station house officer (SHO) of the Ghuman police station Jarnail Singh raided the spot and arrested the duo, while three members of the gang managed to flee the spot.
The accused have been identified by police as Satnam Singh and Ravinder Singh, both residents of Chowdharywal village.
Police claimed to have recovered one 7.5 bore and one .315 bore revolvers, six live cartridges and sharp-edged weapons from their possession.
A case under sections 399 () and 420 () of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against them at the Ghuman police station.
