Two Ludhiana docs sacked for unauthorised absence from duty

Two medical officers deputed at the subdivisional hospitals of Raikot and Katani Kalan in Ludhiana district have been dismissed by principal secretary, health, Vini Mahajan for prolonged absence from duty without any intimation.

Two medical officers deputed at the subdivisional hospitals of Raikot and Katani Kalan in Ludhiana district have been dismissed by principal secretary, health, Vini Mahajan for prolonged absence from duty without any intimation.

The dismissal order, dated February 24, reached the civil surgeon's office on Thursday.

Both officers were on probation. After noticing their long absence, the health director sent a report to the principal secretary, health, recommending disciplinary action against the duo.

As per the order issued by the principal secretary, health, medical officer Dr Saurabh Agarwal had joined the Raikot hospital on March 17, 2011, and had been absent since March 18, 2011. Dr Manisha joined the hospital at Katani Kalan on March 18, 2011, and went on leave from June 3, 2014, before the completion of her probation period.
