Vet varsity sells off meat processing technology Assam-based company

Propagating the need of processing and value addition, the department of livestock products technology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) has developed and transferred the technology of Shelf Stable Pork Pickle to Arohan Foods Private Ltd, Guwahati, Assam.

The technology has been transferred on multi-user basis for `50,000. Manish Chatli, department of livestock products technology (LPT), revealed a memorandum of understanding has been signed between both the parties in the presence of Vijay Kumar Taneja, vice-chancellor, GADVASU, and Anabil Goswami, managing director, Arohan Foods.

Taneja applauded the efforts of scientists in developing a link with the entrepreneurs. He insisted that feedbacks on the product should be gathered from the end users, which will be instrumental in improving our technologies. SNS Randhawa, director of research, GADVASU, signed the agreement and congratulated the scientists. He said that this was a recognition of the industry oriented applied research work carried out by the university.

It is pertinent to mention that department of LPT has conducted research in meat processing, quality control and value addition of meat and eggs.

The standardised technologies are ready for transfer for nutritious meat-based biscuits and meat wadi with a protein content of 27-30 percent.
