Over one lakh students appeared in the English examination as the Class 12 exams of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) kicked off on Tuesday.
Traffic jams were witnessed on roads and areas outside city schools and centres, as parents and relatives accompanied students to the examination centres. With tensed parents waiting outside the centres, an air of nervousness as well as excitement prevailed.
The exam was from 10:30am to 1:30pm. Students were given time to read the paper from 10:15am to 10:30. The paper was divided into three parts -

{{/usCountry}}Section A: Reading (20 marks), Section B: Writing and Grammar (40 marks), Section C: Literature (40 marks).
While most students in the region feel it was an easy paper, many couldn’t deny the fact that it was ‘lengthy’, especially the writing section.
Uday Roy, a commerce student of DAV Model School, Sector 15, told HT that it was fairly easy paper and definitely better than what our teachers had projected it to be.
Shalini from Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, said, “I found the paper easy, but lengthy. But how tough can an English paper get, the real test still awaits us with economics and political science still a few days away.”
Meanwhile, Prateek, who was seen walking out of the examination hall rather late, said, “Section B was tricky and I finished my paper only a minute before coming out. It was lengthy.”
Students also shared that the exam was easier than the last year. Asmita, a medical student, said, “The paper was easier than the last year since I had attempted sample papers as well. I found Section A slightly tricky.”
