The star factor in the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha contest came alive on Wednesday when Bollywood veteran and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Vinod Khanna received a warm welcome to this industrial city.
His huge motorcade was stopped at half a dozen times so that local BJP leaders could greet him. The film actor and former MP reached Batala by 1.30pm.
Shiromani Akali Dal halqa (segment) in-charge Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal; state BJP secretary Rakesh Rathore; and former district BJP presidents Naresh Mahajan and Vivek Modgil joined him on the road show that cause a few traffic jams.
Warm welcome
Pathankot: Vinod Khanna was given warm welcome in Pathankot as well, after the BJP candidate arrived here in the evening. Local legislator Ashwani Sharma and Sujanpur MLA Dinesh Singh Babbu were among the supporters who received him and accompanied on a road show through the town markets.
