In the wake of the suicide bomber attack on the Pakistan side of Wagah border that killed 60 persons on Sunday, the district police have tightened security at the famous Floating Restaurant in Sirhind, which is a regular resting point for the "Sada-e-Sarhad" Delhi-Lahore bus.
Security was also beefed up and extra precautionary measures taken for the Delhi-Lahore bus as well.
The staff at the Floating Restaurant was taken aback when a police team headed by inspector Harvinder Singh and assistant sub-inspector Kuldeep Singh arrived at the restaurant, along with the dog squad Alper Juster, for a routine security check.
Sources said as soon as the bus arrived at the restaurant at 10.10am, the police gheraoed it, restricting the movement of bystanders near the bus. Also, the police did not allow the 25 passengers to move around freely. Each and every passenger was accompanied by a jawan to the restaurant.
Both the buses plying between Delhi and Lahore stop at the resturant for 20 minutes for passengers to to take light refreshments.
Sanan, a 15-year-old student from Pakistan, said they had received news of yesterday's blast at Wagah and added that it could be the handiwork of Afghanistan-based Taliban who did not want peace in the region.

{{/usCountry}}Another woman passenger, on the condition of anonymity, criticised yesterday's attack and added that they were also fed up with the violence in their country.
Fatehgarh Sahib senior superintendent of police Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said the security check was done routine and added that security has been further beefed up in view of yesterday's attack. He also said the tight security arrangements would continue at the restaurant for the safety of passengers.
