Though the wheat crop has not arrived in the grain market till date, hundreds of bags of wheat from the last season were lying in the open in the market. Procurement agencies are yet to lift last year's wheat.

The commission agents and farmers, who are expecting a bumper crop this season, questioned that if the administration had shown apathy in lifting last season's crop, how can they be expected to lift wheat this season in time.

Shri Hargobindpur market committee secretary Pritpal Singh Randhawa said the wheat lying at the grain market belonged to PunGrain and they had brought the matter to the notice of officials on several occasions.

He added that they had made all arrangements for providing clean drinking water to farmers and electricity for cleaning grain and fans.
