A 35-year-old widow was hacked to death allegedly by her in-laws owing to a property dispute in Salem Tabri on Sunday night. As per the police, the accused allegedly wanted to grab a 300-square yard plot in a possession of the victim.
The accused tried to give it the colour of a road mishap but the postmortem report revealed that the victim sustained grievous injuries after being hit by sharp-edged weapons suggesting she was murdered.
After the postmortem report, the Salem Tabri police registered a case of murder against her father-in-law Balwinder Singh, mother-in-law Balwinder Kaur and sister-in-law Jashnpreet Kaur and arrested them.
The case has been registered following the statement of victim’s father Avtar Singh of Kamasi Majra village of Ambala. In his complaint, he said that his daughter Maninder Kaur was married to Amritpal Singh of Aman Nagar, Salem Tabri area of Ludhiana in 2010.
Maninder Kaur has a four-year-old daughter.
Avtar Singh added that Amritpal Singh was a drunkard and he died in February this year. Before his death, he had transferred the ownership of his 300-square yard plot in the name of his wife and the daughter.
He alleged that her in-laws wanted to grab the plot and were forcing her to transfer the property in their name, but she refused following which they hatched a conspiracy to kill her.
“Avtar Singh told the police that on Monday, the accused informed him Maninder Kaur has met with a road accident. He rushed to Ludhiana, where he came to know that his daughter had died,”said Salem Tabri station officer inspector Mohammad Jameel.
“Avtar Singh also informed that her daughter sustained injuries on her head, face, nose and other body parts. He alleged that her daughter was murdered,”the SHO added.
