A woman belonging to the weaker section of the society was gangraped by five youth after being abducted from the Chamba town on late Thursday night.
Chamba SP BM Sharma said that the victim, who hails from Kalera village of Tissa sub-division, had come to Chamba town for medical check-up.
"After reaching the Chamba town late in the evening, she asked the youth to guide her to the hospital but they took her to secluded place and raped her," said Shamra, adding that around 11:30pm, a police petrol party heard her screams and reached the spot.
Seeing the police, the four accused fled from the spot. However, the police managed to arrest one culprit who revealed the name of others who were involved in the crime.
Later, the police arrested the other four. The accused have been identified as Rahul, Abishek Rana, Pancham, Rahul and Harsh.
Four of the accused were produced in a local court on Saturday, while the fifth accused Rahul, who is a minor, will be produced in the juvenile court.
