Woman, paramour held for double murder

The police have arrested a married woman and her paramour for allegedly killing her mother-in-law and eliminating her husband, a few months later. In a release, the Mulepur police on Sunday said one Kulwant Singh, a resident of Naleena Kalan village, of the district told police that Paramjit Kaur, a resident of village Rorewal was married to Naleena Kalan village resident Gurjant Singh on November 20, 2009.

Before marriage, Paramjit had a relationship with Bahadur Singh of Guneke village in Patiala. Bahadur continued to meet Paramjit at her in-laws' place even after the marriage. Paramjit's mother-in-law Gurdev Kaur, who was mostly present at the house during Bahadur's visit, got a wind of their illicit relationship and the two hatched a conspiracy to eliminate her.

They gave her milk mixed laced with sleeping pills on night of January 30, 2011. Later they strangled her to death with a quilt.

After Paramjit's husband got to know of her illicit relationship with Bahadur, the two planned to kill him as well in order to grab his land. Paramjit called Bahadur to her place on the intervening night of July 10 and July 11 when Gurjant was in an inebriated condition. Bahadur brought a bottle of a cold drink and mixed 10-12 sleeping pills in it. They offered cold drink to Gurjant and he fell unconscious. Later, they strangulated Gurjant Singh with a pillow.
