Investigating officer Ajitpal Singh told HT that the deceased Kuldeep Singh was working with Harjinder Singh Gogi.

The victim's wife too was working in Harjinder's house. On January 1, 2013 Harjinder Singh took Kuldeep Singh out of the state on the pretext of getting some work. The police said that Harjinder came back but Kuldeep Singh did not return. Kuldeep's father Bant Singh lodged a complaint with the police alleging that his son was murdered by his daughter- in- law, Jaswinder Kaur and a villager Harjinder Singh.

During preliminary investigation, it was learnt that Kaur developed illicit relations with Harvinder Singh following which both made a plan to kill Kuldeep Singh. The police have arrested them on charges of murder (302IPC) and destruction of evidence( 201 IPC).
