Anita Rani, the victim said Navin Khosla, the accused had fraudulently married her after conniving with his parents.

"On May 11, 2013, I married a Punjab Police ASI. My family took this step after verifying the details but they failed. Navin used to roam in police uniform and never let me know about his true identity. He was unemployed and was posing as a police officer," she said.

"Unaware of police functioning, I became victim of his false tales. He used to say that he was posted with CIA. He also claimed to be attached with the intelligence wing of Punjab Police," she added.

"My parents arranged my marriage lavishly. After two months, I got suspicious when my father-in-law Ashok Khosla and mother-in-law Veena Khosla started harassing me for bringing fewer dowries. They used to beat me," Anita said.

"The family was also aware about Navin's fake identity. They have cheated with me and my family, demanded dowry and hid truth. We want police to add Section 420 against them and arrest all the accused," she added.
