Addressing the gathering, he said women empowerment should be enforced through education and effort to establish gender equality must be started from the school level.

He added, “The workshop will address the blatant discrimination that women are facing at each level. This workshop is exclusively for SC/ST women faculty members from the northern states.”
Nearly 35 participants from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are attending the workshop.

Welcoming the guests and participants, director of Women's Studies Research Centre Reicha Tanwar spoke about the objectives of the workshop. She said although women constitute almost half of the population, but there had been inequity as seen in their representation at the higher levels. Trained women could well contribute to a qualitative development of the system of higher education and ensure gender equity.
