The issuance of smart card registration certificate (RC) at the district transport office (DTO) has been put on hold since last five days due to non-availability of blank smart card in the department.
The people have been suffering as the department has failed to issue registration copies of their vehicles on time.
As per the information, a smart chip company was responsible for issuing smart card for registration certificates of the vehicle. The company has established its office at the DTO office. Due to the shortage of the smart card, the number of application has been increasing by around 100-150 daily.
Kartar Singh, one of the applicants, said that he has been wandering in the transport office for last two days but failed to get any positive response from the officials.
Another applicant Manohar Lal said the authorities must inform the people about the shortage of cards and give them exact time when to collect their registration copies.
Meanwhile, Gurpreet Singh Thind, district transport officer, said that these problems often come to fore. The smart chip company this time has failed to provide smart cards on time, he added.

{{/usCountry}}"Though the work has been delayed, we have been doing our best to manage the problem. We have already written to the concerned company officials to send smart copies at the earliest to ease out the problem. The issue will be resolved in a day or two," he said.
