Dhanbad: Addressing a rally at East Basuria Football Ground in Baghmara block on Tuesday, chief minister Hemant Soren launched a direct attack on the BJP.
The Soren scion blamed the party for trying to influence voters through money and resorting to communal politics to come to power.
During the rally, which was organised in support of JMM and Congress candidates, the CM added that BJP candidates were pumping in a lot of money to win the elections in Jharkhand. A large amount of cash was seized across the state and it belonged to sitting BJP MPs who were trying to purchase votes, Soren alleged.
Soren said the BJP’s spending a huge amount of money on advertisements was more than the annual budget of Jharkhand. “Jharkhand’s annual budget is around `15,000 crore but the BJP has spent over `25,000 crore on its advertisements,” Soren said.
“Had people’s representatives (read sitting BJP MPs) distributed the money among the poor, voters would have sent them to the Parliament with honour,” he added.
The chief minister also attacked the saffron party for trying to divide the people on communal lines. Soren also took a dig at former cabinet colleague and Intuc leader Chandrashekhar Dubey (now the Trinamool Congress candidate from Dhanbad), alleging that he sold trade unions to Trinamool for personal gains.

JMM’s Giridih candidate Jagarnath Mahto, animal husbandry and fisheries minister Mannan Mallick, former minister OP Lal, district Congress president Brajendra Prasad Singh, RJD district president Tarakeshwer Yadav and JMM district president Ramesh Tudu were also present.
Soren attacked Coal India Limited and termed it responsible for backwardness in the colliery areas. He said if the Congress-JMM alliance emerges victorious in Giridih and Dhanbad, the headquarters of CIL and DVC would be brought back to Jharkhand from Kolkata.
