The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested CRPF deputy commandant Vineeta Kumari for allegedly managing recruitment of unfit candidates for the post of constables. Simultaneous raids were carried out at her residence and office in the city.

CBI sleuths also raided the residence of Vineeta’s husband, Dr Arvind Singh, in Kolkata.

“We have registered a FIR against the deputy commandant of 133 CRPF battalion posted in Jharkhand allegedly for conniving with medical team and offering bribe to medical officers to declare unfit candidates fit during the ongoing constable recruitments,” said a senior CBI official who is monitoring the raids.

He added that the officer has been arrested after the search and seizure operations conducted on Thursday at her office and residence in Ranchi and her husband’s residence in Kolkata.

Vineeta will be produced before the special CBI court on Friday.

CBI sources informed that the raiding team has seized several incriminating documents from her residence at Amrit Lok apartment at Alkapuri colony near Ranchi’s DPS school.
