Actor Venkatesh will be next seen as a washed-up boxing coach in Sudha Kongara’s Guru, Telugu remake of Saala Khadoos. At the film’s trailer launch earlier this week, heaping praise on his director, Venkatesh said that this film will be very special, even most of his other films have been successful and have earned him accolades and awards. He also said he has learnt the most from this film and the credit should go to director Sudha.
Even though the film was originally made with R Madhavan in Tamil and Hindi, Venkatesh said the story was brought to him first. Unfortunately, he was down with Dengue when Sudha approached him for the first time. When he couldn’t take up the project, Sudha went ahead and completed the project with Madhavan, and it turned out to be successful. He went on to add that he was bowled by Sudha’s script when he read it for the first time.
He credited Sudha for having gone through most of his films and changed his screen appearance. Although he plays a guru in the film, Venkatesh admits Sudha is his guru in the film and that he surrendered to her. He added that the film has changed his though process towards his roles. Venkatesh also said the film made him a better actor. Guru is slated for release on March 31 or April 7.
