The new teaser of Suriya-starrer Masss is out. The horror comedy has all the ingredients to make it an edge-of-the-seat experience. The teaser hints at the plot without giving away much.
What we can figure out is that Suriya has a double role -- one is a tough no-nonsense cop while the other, the more interesting one, is a social outcast. Or is he a spirit? Or is that a man possessed by a spirit, out to avenge some wrong done? Whoever he is, he is certainly out to seek revenge. We do hear a voice in the background which shouts: “It’s my f***ing game!” Director Venkat Prabhu seems to have taken this line from his previous film, Mankatha starring Ajith.
But the most interesting frames have been reserved for Suriya, the possessed spirit. Why and how does the character deny gravity? The opening shot itself is hard to figure out at first instance. Why does director Venkat Prabhu choose to shoot Suriya by the sea face upside down? Why does the last frame of the teaser show Suriya walking on the walls and the ceiling of a room? These frames hint that not all is well here. This certainly doesn’t feel human enough. What’s more, the guy has Dracula-like teeth too.
Of course, there are two girls, Nayantara and Pranitha. But the teaser shows them just in romantic roles, with meatier portions reserved for Suriya.
Also, how can we have a Tamil mass entertainment without song and dance? Don’t miss out the purple ambassador (or was that a Beetle?) in one of the song sequence.
Get set for some creepy chills.
