Actor Mrinmayee Godbole is known for her powerful performances in films such as Rajwade & Sons (2016), CRD (2017) and Chi Va Chi Sau Ka (2017). Daughter of Marathi actor-writer-producer Shrirang Godbole and sister of actor-director Suhrud Godbole, Mrinmayee has managed to make a mark of her own with her selective yet impactful projects. The actor is recently seen playing Akshay Kumar’s onscreen sister in the film, Pad Man.

Her character is seen not only yelling at the senior actor but constantly miffed with him too. Was it difficult being mad at a senior actor? “To be honest, the cardinal rule is not to be intimidated. I have shared the stage with senior actor Paresh Rawal (for the play Dear Father) for seven years now. So, I have a slight idea of how it is to work with an experienced actor. Also, Akshay has no whims or an attitude about being such a huge star.He instantly made everyone comfortable.”

Mrinmayee credits Akshay for his professionalism and says, “When he got to know I come with a theatre background, he immediately said, ‘I would never dare to step on stage and do a full-length play’. This, coming for such a huge star, immediately puts you at ease. When I told him I am a Maharashtrian, he tried to speak to me in Marathi. It was very comforting and nice of him to do so.” Having Radhika Apte and Jyoti Subhash on the sets also worked for her as she has known them for several years now.

On her selection of projects, Mrinmayee adds that she picks subjects that matter to her or those that she finds relatable. “I should be able to express the topic that the film or project is depicting. The work I do reflects what I am as a person as well. If I feel differently about the subject, then I find it difficult to portray it as well.”
