Puli song promo: DSP sings to announce Vijay's arrival

The over two-minute song is peppy and high on beats. Pretty much announcing the arrival of the film, the song is a celebration of Puli, as Ilayathalapathy Vijay's character is popularly called in the film.

There are 15 days to go before actor Ilayathalapathy Vijay's ambitious Tamil fantasy drama, Puli, hits the screens and the promotions have begun in earnest with the release of its first promo. The song titled, Puli song promo, has been sung by popular music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), who is also the film's composer. Well, DSP also features in the video, dancing to the beats.

Puli, meaning tiger in Tamil, has been written and directed by Chimbu Deven and stars Vijay, Sridevi, Sudeep, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani. (Facebook)

The over two-minute song is peppy and high on beats. And why not? The video begins with a stamp of 'Rockstar' DSP embossed on the screen. Pretty much announcing the arrival of the film, the song is a celebration of Puli, as Ilayathalapathy Vijay's character is popularly called in the film. We are informed he is sharp (dagger-like), alert and lives to help others. But he's a fun guy too who laughs and makes others laugh. The promo ends with the final call to the 'Tamil' (whatever that means).

The two-minute video is interspersed with glimpses from the trailers that the producers have been releasing. We get to see a lot of castles, kings and queens in Western-style gowns, pretty girls and bad guys and a lot of heroics from the lead actor.

For Ilayathalapathy Vijay fans, this is magic. The film releases on Oct 1, 2015.
