The makers of Ram Charan’s Magadheera, which happens to be the biggest blockbuster of his career, have moved to court against Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer Raabta over copyright infringement of the story.
Ever since the trailer of Raabta was released, a section of audience on social media pointed out the film’s striking similarity with Magadheera, which was about two estranged lovers meeting in another life and realizing they share a strong connection. Directed by SS Rajamouli, which introduced him to the world as a visionary filmmaker, the film also starred Kajal Aggarwal in her first major hit of her career.
In a statement, it has been revealed Geetha Arts, the makers of Magadheera, moved to city civil court in Hyderabad on Wednesday, seeking immediate injunction against the release of Raabta, claiming that they copied their unique story. Interestingly, Geetha Arts didn’t make any official announcement on moving to court, except for a statement which was claimed to be sent by them doing the rounds on social media. When reached out, representative from the production house was unavailable for comment.
