Vijay Sethupathi on Monday said at a gathering that he values the interests of Tamils than National Awards. The star was making a reference to the government’s decision to remove Tamil language from train tickets.
He said that the feelings of Tamils were important, and expressed disappointment at the decision, according to Sify News. Tamil was removed from unreserved tickets in favour of Hindi and English after 2005’s Unreserved Ticketing System.
“If I am ever forced to choose between my identity as a Tamilian and an award from the Central government, I will choose the former. I am always for and with the Tamil people,” the actor said.
Talking about his new release, Karuppan, the actor said, “The film will be a celebration of a husband and wife relationship portrayed in an aesthetic angle”. He also confirmed he would be a part of Mani Ratnam’s new film and Chiranjeevi’s Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. “I feel proud that the makers of Telugu film approached me to play an important role”, said the actor.
