Wondering why the new campus hottie always gives you those cold glares while she is pally with other guys? It could be about the image you’ve built up with your behaviour, conversation and style. Sometimes, it may not be the real you, but you could still be giving out wrong signals and it could be a major put off for someone you intend to date. So, if you think you fall close to any of the categories listed below, mend your ways before it’s too late.

The show-off type
He happily shells out a bomb to get that ‘VIP’ phone number. He can kill to get a 007 or AK 47 number plate for his vehicle. His uncle’s cousin’s wife’s younger bro is always a somebody in the PM house. And Mr Phenku is always busy importing rare dolphins from Singapore to set up a ‘one-of-its-kind’ amusement park in Chattarpur. “Such a guy badly seeks attention and won’t mind cooking up stories about his girlfriend to impress his pals,” warns relationship expert Jai Madan. The dandy guy

His perfume makes an entry into the room before he does. His drawers are stacked with the most expensive cleansers, toners, packs, fairness gel and what not. Don’t shriek if you find him applying lipstick or waxing his legs. We are not saying that guy grooming is a bad thing but tell us girl, does the idea of sharing your vanity box with your man every morning excite you? "When he is so finicky about his own looks, he won’t accept you the way you are. Everything boils down to appearance for him and you might fight it tough to breathe easy in his company,"

says Madan.

Mr ‘Accent’ric
He hasn’t spent even a quarter of a year in a foreign land and yet his accent can beat George Bush’s. He would twist even the simplest of the words for impact. And he won’t let you get a hint that he honed his skills at the call center. “A guy with a false accent is trying to make up for something that’s lacking, and that usually is his confidence,” says psychiatrist Dr Avdesh Sharma. Don’t look at this as a major personality flaw, though. “If you are attracted to him, tell him you’ll like him even without the accent,” says Dr Sharma.

Chipku the great
If you thought super glue was the best adhesive, you haven’t met him yet. ‘Don’t give up’ is the motto he lives by. Always willing to provide chauffeur service to you, he would call you at odd hours, if only to check about your pet’s health. “The more you ignore, the harder he’ll try to win your attention,” says Madan.
