So much affection

M Singh has been travelling to his office by car for 12 years. It’s a three-hour-long journey. He utilises this time to correspond with his business contacts on his blackberry.

At times, he listens to his favourite songs on his cell phone and even catches up on his sleep in the car. He prefers the front seat beside his driver, Bhagwati, who has been with him for over two decades.

He appreciates Bhagwati for his sincerity and dedication to his work and has also helped him in times of need. But Singh does not hesitate to give him a piece of his mind when he goofs up.

Speedy recovery
A while ago, Singh underwent a bypass surgery. He was in the intensive care unit for four days. Bhagwati used to sit in the hospital lobby all day and pray for his speedy recovery. He refused to go home even at night. He said he would go home only after he was allowed to see his dear saab.

Finally, when his saab woke up, he shook hands with him and said, “You are already looking good. Now I can go home.” Then he left. All of us found this so touching.
