NEW DELHI: Going into the final round of the JK Tyre Indikarting, Anjaan Patodia knew it was a do-or-die situation.
His compatriot from Rayo Racing, Aaron Ravindran, was leading the tally by a solitary point.
Failure would have meant additional burden of around ` 4 lakh for a step-up to the National Rotax Karting Championships. But a win in the final round would ensure a sponsored seat.
Patodia was in great form in the last race of the day as he pipped his rival to the chequered flag at the Wonder Speedway on Sunday — and with it a sponsored seat.
“I had to go all out as it was a do-or-die situation. Winning was a big relief,” Patodia said later.
Winner of pro-junior, Jonathan Kuriakose, and procadet, A Kaulshi, too would get sponsored seats in their respective categories next season.
Similarly, winners of the support series, including Meera Erda, who won the interschool category and Mohammad Ridaaf, who won the senior open category, will get a sponsored seat in the JK Tyre IndiKarting Pro Series.
