MUMBAI: Ravindra Kotiyan and Raegan Albuquerque won exciting back-to-back ties to storm into the youth boys and men’s semi-finals, in the JVPG Mumbai Suburban District Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana on Sunday.
Raegan was the toast of the day when he prevailed over Hardik Panchal 7-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-8, 11-13, 13-11 in the youth boys quarter-finals and later shocked Nishant Kulkarni 12-10, 8-11, 11-5, 12-10, 12-10 in a gripping men’s quarterfinal.
FISHER CRUISES INTO 9-BALL POOL FINAL
Former women’s world No 1 Kelly Fisher of England fashioned a comfortable semi-final win to sail into the championship round in the Otters Club All India 9-Ball Pool Tournament on Sunday. Fisher will take on Alok Kumar of PSPB in the race-to-15 final, after halting Monu Chaudhary of Delhi 13-5 in the semi-finals.
KELKAR, DEY EMERGE CHAMPIONS
Mayuresh Kelkar and Swagata Dey bagged the top honours winning the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the inter-corporate TT tourney.
