Bhupathi-Knowles in quarters

India's Mahesh Bhupathi and his Belarussian partner Max Mirnyi overcame the first set challenge from the wildcard pair of the UAE's Mahmoud-Nader Al Baloushi and Kuwait's Abdullah Magdas to advance in the doubles quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships here Monday.

India's Mahesh Bhupathi and his Belarussian partner Max Mirnyi overcame the first set challenge from the wildcard pair of the UAE's Mahmoud-Nader Al Baloushi and Kuwait's Abdullah Magdas to advance in the doubles quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships here Monday.

The third-seeded Indo-Belarussian pair beat Al Baloushi and Magdas 7-5, 6-0 in 56 minutes.

They next play the winner of the match between Swede Simon Aspelin and Australian Paul Hanley and Serbians Novak Djokovic and Dusan Vemic.

In the men’s singles, Gilles Simon, the former world number six lost 7-6 (7/3), 6-4 to Marcos Baghdatis.
