Easy victory for the Czechs

Petra Kvitova and Tomas Berdych produced some impeccable tennis to give the Czech Republic the Hopman Cup with a 2-0 win over France in the final on Saturday.

Petra Kvitova and Tomas Berdych produced some impeccable tennis to give the Czech Republic the Hopman Cup with a 2-0 win over France in the final on Saturday.

Kvitova saw off Marion Bartoli 7-5, 6-1 in the opening match and then Berdych defeated Richard Gasquet 7-6,, 6-4 to take an unassailable lead. With the result decided, the mixed doubles match did not go ahead.

Fish fried
Mardy Fish blew his top in a bad-tempered tie between the US and Bulgaria because he was embarrassed about losing against young Grigor Dimitrov, Pat Cash said. Fish received a code of conduct warning for spitting in the direction of noisy Bulgarian fans during his 2-6, 1-6 thrashing.
