Top seed Roger Federer defeated Somdev Devvarman in straight sets to reach the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
World No.2 Federer was largely untroubled by the 26-year-old Indian, who is ranked 77 places below the Swiss player, as he came through 6-3 6-3.

The match was the biggest in Devvarman's career on Tour and he never really looked like pulling off what would have been the shock of the year so far.
Federer meanwhile marches into the last-16 as he looks to win his first title of the year.
