Ibrahimovic was given a straight red card for hitting Marco Rossi in the 73rd minute of Sunday's 1-1 draw with Bari, after the defender beat him to a header.

Ibrahimovic appeared frustrated after a large heap of the blame for Milan's elimination by Tottenham in the Champions League was placed on his inability to score.

Milan holds a five point lead over Inter atop Serie A with nine matches remaining.

Ibrahimovic will also miss matches against Palermo and Fiorentina.

The league also banned Lazio defender Stefan Radu for three matches for headbutting Roma midfielder Fabio Simplicio toward the end of Sunday's derby, which Roma won 2-0. Lazio midfielder Cristian Ledesma was given a two-match ban for insulting the referee.

Furthermore, Roma was fined euro 35,000 ($50,000) after a fan directed a laser beam at Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, notably when he was attempting to stop a penalty kick from Francesco Totti.
