Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago will be sidelined after injuring his left knee in a preseason friendly on Tuesday.
Gago came off in the 54th minute of the 2-0 win over Uruguayan club Penarol after picking up the injury. The Spanish club says the Argentine midfielder will undergo medical scans on Wednesday to determine the severity of the problem.

Gago is battling for a place in Madrid's crowded midfield following the arrivals of Sami Khedira and Pedro Leon to go with Rafael van der Vaart, Lassana Diarra, Mahamadou Diarra and Xabi Alonso.
