Somdev crashes out of Nice Open first round

Somdev Devvarman crashed out of the men's singles first round of the Nice Open tennis.

Somdev, ranked 66, went down fighting to World No. 53 Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 3-6, 6-7(7) in Nice on Sunday.

Somdev had beaten Mannarino in their last meeting at Indian Wells Masters earlier in 2011.

He, however, is alive in the doubles where he is partnering American Ryan Sweeting. The two play Czech Frantisek Cermak and Filip Polasek of Slovakia in the first round.
