After five days of the unending Indian tennis soap opera, youngster Yuki Bhambri has also joined the bandwagon. He questioned Leander Paes’ decision to not partner a lower-ranked player in the Olympics.
“Leander should remember, in 1992, Ramesh Krishnan took him under his wings. Leander is 38-39 and it’s time he gives back to tennis,” the 19-year-old told a television channel.

Yuki insisted that he was not inexperienced and cited examples to back it up. “I just came back a couple of hours ago after playing on grass at the Wimbledon (the Olympic venue). I have a wealth of experience... I played alongside Carlos Moya in Chennai Open, so there is no question of inexperience. Not sure, what the players are afraid of. I had beaten the world No 43 on clay in Davis Cup and Leander was there,” Yuki added.
Ranked 306 in doubles, Yuki backed the two-team option. “First time we have the opportunity to send two doubles teams to the Olympics and it’s a great opportunity for someone like me.”
