Jio Platforms – a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, and the holding company of Jio – has announced ‘Platform,’ which it described as a ‘short video format app for entertainers.’

For the app, Jio Platforms partnered with Rolling Stones India and Creativeland Asia, as per a press release.

“Aimed at star entertainers, with an ecosystem built of organic growth and steady monetisation, the Platform app will be all about creators, singers, actors, musicians, dancers, comedians, fashion designers, and everyone who wants to become a cultural influencer,” said the release, according to Mint.

Reportedly, a beta version of Platform is already being tested, and the app itself will go live in January. The first hundred members will join it through invite only, with these original members, in turn, sending invites to new artists to become members through referral programmes.

Creators joining the feature will ‘grow’ through ranking and reputation through an organic approach, and not through paid algorithms used by Meta. This growth will be demoted by verifications – red, blue, and silver – that will be based on fanbase growth and content engagement.

Additionally, a ‘Book Now’ button on the creators' profile will allow fans and organisers to interact with them.
