A New York Times article ‘misidentifying’ athletes Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal, thinking they were one and the same, became a hot debate on social media on Tuesday after a Reddit user shared a screen grab of the gaffe.

The error appeared in an article titled “11 stories of female athletes who made their own rules in 2015” which listed eleven big-time female achievers in sports in 2015.
The year-in-review article published on December 30 hailed ‘badminton and tennis player Sania Mirza’ as ‘an example of Indian women athletes excelling on international stage’.
The news website later issued a correction saying “The athletes Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal were misidentified in an earlier version of this article”.
But, before they could retract, a Reddit user MalayDesai managed to collect a screen grab of the gaffe and posted it on the social media website.
